Matthew Clarke, a national drinks wholesaler, asked us to create a magazine that they could supply to potential clients, that showcased their range and knowledge within the wine sector of their business.
As a team, we decided we wanted to follow a more editorial avenue, helping to express the approachable and down to earth nature of their of company, but allowing the product to come to the forefront and really express the expertise that Matthew Clarke have in supplying their clients, the best wines for their customers.
I wanted to focus on the imagery of bottles, and find a way to show the detail of each bottle, but keeping a clean impactful spread. To do this I focused on bold and dynamic imagery and focused on ways to display the product in such a way that was engaging for the reader.
Mattel Press Advertising
Working for Mattel, we are asked to create press advertising to promote products within different brands. Here are a few examples, from brands such as Fisher-Price® and Barbie.
We'd spend a few weeks at the beginning of the year, coming up with design templates for each brand that could house imagery - both lifestyle and product. Then throughout the year update this template to promote specific products or campaigns.
I created the Imaginext collector poster for 2013. Mattel wanted the target audience (boys aged 5-8) to understand that although there brand was split into several genres (targeted this year was rescue, medieval, dino and DC Superfriends) their products could be used together to create one Imaginext world. They wanted each section to still be distinctive but wanted to show how they could simultaneously work together.
To reflect this, I took artwork and products from each product range and created a scene that merged all worlds into one.
Every year, Mattel create a Fisher-Price® Magalogue, a product catalogue featuring product ranges key information and tips from experts in child development.
The magalogue was distributed at BabyShows, in-store and could be requested via the Fisher-Price site. It reached over 60,000 Mums in the Uk.
I got the chance to update some packaging for Brooks Hill - Perfect Girl brand. We had previously created artwork for a product within the range, but they wanted a fresh look and style for a new set of lashes packaging.
They wanted it be simular to the previous artwork, but wanted a distinctive focus. They'd come up with the word 'Wild' for this specific set of lashes, so I used this as my starting point. I used simple graphics to layer and create the Brit Rocks branding and used spot UV to give the packing the distinctive look and feel they wanted.
Available in Boots stores.
Hotwheels is a car branded aimed at boys aged 7-11 year old. In 2013 we created the "Take the Challenge' campaign that encouraged boys to chose a team colour and create stunts with their cars, online and at a roadshow that travelled around toy stores in the UK.
The collector brochure, which broke down each teams attributes and encouraged boys to chose a team they could engage with. This brochure also focused on toy collection within the 2013 product range.
Sophie & Andrew Wedding
I got to create Orders of Service for Sophina & Andrews Wedding. I came up with several concepts for them to choose from, but they chose this tag and wallet style.
They supplied information for the day, and I gave them fonts to chose from. I then laid out the pages and created the wallets to hold them.
Victoria and Johns Wedding Package was an absolute pleasure to work on! They came to me to create their Save the Dates and Invitations, with no real idea in mind, what they wanted. Although Victoria & John didn't expect it, they had 50+ guests flying out to Cyprus for their big day, and I wanted this invites to be that extra bit special, as the guests were spending a lot of money to travel.
All they knew was they were getting married in Cyprus at their chosen resort, no other details had been worked out. So I used this as my starting block. I came up with a few ideas, but really honed in on a Passport style invite, housing information for guests about the region - things to do nearby and places to visit, as well as the all important wedding information!
The ideas for the Save the Dates really came from this, I thought it would be a nice touch to have a boarding pass/ticket style Save the Date as well as luggage tags for all guests to attach to their bags. So they had 'all they needed' to travel abroad for the wedding. I came up with some simple illustrations and icons to emphasise key information and the invite even included a tick list, so guests didn't forget anything.
An absolute pleasure of a project and I was so pleased that Victoria and John were so happy with the outcome!
We Are Rollers
I got the chance to travel and spend time with some of the We Are Rollers lads, a group of rollerbladers that come together at skateparks across the country to help support and promote the sport.
